A Tribute in Voice, Word, and Action

Bud Lewis inspired us by the way he lived, laughed and loved. He was an ambassador of friendship, community, and athletics to everyone. At the Multnomah Athletic Foundation and MAC, so many people were touch by this amazing human being.

Join in “Celebrating the Extraordinary Life and Legacy of our friend and MAC member, Leland Stanford “Bud” Lewis, 1920-2021. Take a moment to watch and listen to this conversation with his friends. He speaks to the importance of getting involved, staying active, and showing gratitude to the people that make the club a fantastic place. The 10 minute special conversation is part of a longer interview filmed in 2019.

Whether you knew him, or you didn’t, here is another way to learn about this infectious spirit. The book, A Strong Grip, about his life story lets you get to know this incredible man. It was written by MAC member, Sheri C. Anderson and is available on Amazon here.

At the foundation, several years ago along with Bud’s involvement, we started The Bud Award which is awarded to one of our community grant recipient that honors the spirit of Leland “Bud”  Lewis. He embodied sportsmanship, enthusiasm and a passion for youth athletics. The photo above is from a visit to the 2017 Bud Award recipient, De La Salle North Catholic High School.

With his smile and laugh in our memory and tears in our eyes, Bud will forever be in our hearts.
