Thank you to everyone that made the Spin-A-Thon a Thank you to everyone that made the Spin-A-Thon a success this year! We wanted to recognize the whole wonderful mixture of participation. 204 people participated collectively in The Ride and The Move. 77, 204 minutes were recorded in days or 1,287 hours of moving! We had 25 fantastic sponsors and our board of directors underwrote 100% of the expenses so that over $27,500 raised can go to fund kids through sport in underserved and underrepresented communities!

As a part of our continued JEDI work and Black His As a part of our continued JEDI work and Black History Month, we were recommended by one of our grant partners, Friends of Baseball, to learn more about the Negro Leagues in American Baseball. ⠀
They shared with us a curated archive of stories surrounding the league and a fascinating recount of Black America’s journey toward equality through the game of baseball. And now we want to share these 22 stories with you from the Negro League Baseball Museum. ⠀

    The Multnomah Athletic Foundation supports confidence and character-building opportunities with an emphasis on athletic participation for youth in underserved communities.   The Youth Grant Initiative (YGI) is a unique and exciting opportunity for youth (grades 7- 8 as of September 2020) to explore community outreach through the process of giving grants.   At the Multnomah Athletic Foundation, we believe that you have the power to create change and bring people together through athletics. Not only do we value your insights and opinions greatly but also believe in your ability to make a difference through acts of service. Joining the YGI team is an opportunity for you to be in charge of the future by creating and leading an epic journey through the world of philanthropy and ultimately changing our communities through athletics for the better.   We are looking for driven and active participants with an interest in leadership, community engagement, athletics and the ability to attend all meetings.

    The Multnomah Athletic Foundation is accepting applications from middle school youth who are eager to gain: • Leadership experience • Develop a greater understanding of their community and • Support local non-profits who are serving youth through athletics.   The Multnomah Athletic Foundation promotes confidence and character-building opportunities with an emphasis on athletic participation for youth in underserved communities. The Youth Grant Initiative is a unique and exciting opportunity for youth (grades 7- 8 as of September 2020) to be a part of community outreach through the power and process of giving grants.   At the Multnomah Athletic Foundation, we believe that you have the power to create change and bring people together through athletics. Not only do we value your insights and opinions greatly but also believe in your ability to make a difference through acts of service. Joining the Youth Grant Initiative is an opportunity for you to be in charge of the future by creating and leading an epic journey through the world of philanthropy and ultimately changing our communities through athletics for the better.   The Youth Grant Initiative (YGI) team will meet 7 times a year (September –December 2020) and meeting topics will include: leadership, understanding of a nonprofit organization, basics of community engagement, grant making process, review of applications and the value of relationships. By the end of the year, the YGI team will collectively make grant awards and funding recommendation for a provided pool of $5,000, to the Multnomah Athletic Foundation Board.

  • I understand the Multnomah Athletic Foundation’s Youth Grant Initiative requires me to demonstrate commitment and passion about my community and be willing to have a discussion with my peers. I will express my opinion in a way that is respectful to opposing ideas. I will be responsible, dedicated and reliable. I understand that participation is limited, and if accepted to the team, I will actively participate and attend all meetings. Interviews will be June 2020.
  • As the guardian of the above applicant, I have reviewed this application, and I authorize my son/daughter/legal ward to apply to Multnomah Athletic Foundation’s Youth Grant Initiative.

Involvement Form

    The Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with limited staff. We are looking for individuals to serve as board members, committee volunteers, to help with special events and to review scholarship applications. Working together, we can enable and inspire youth through athletics.

    We look forward to talking to you about your interest areas, talents and willingness to get involved!  Get started by completing this form – basic information, interest areas and two questions.  We will respond and find the best way to utilize your talents and time!

    Deadlines for Consideration:

    Scholarship reader teams will be pulled together for an orientation/training session in Jan , Feb or Mar depending on the program.

    The nomination process for committee is March 15th at 5 PM PDT.
    The nomination process for board consideration closes February 15 at 5 PM PDT.
    Nominees will hear from us in the weeks following as the Governance Committee seeks to narrow the field to the top candidates for interviews.
