The Multnomah Athletic Foundation’s Impact Award recognizes the positive impact of a nonprofit organization through its support of youth, athletic participation and community collaboration. The annual Impact Award is presented to one of our community grant partners in the Portland metropolitan area. This year we celebrate two partners and their story of collaboration!
Who these amazing community collaborators:
Mission of Parrott Creek Child and Family Services
In partnership with others, helps families and youth identify strengths and develop skills that build stronger families and safer communities.
- For over fifty years Parrott Creek Child & Family Services has supported some of our most vulnerable community members: children and families caught up in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. They offer expertise in a diverse array of programs and services that help children and families stabilize their lives, identify their strengths and develop life-long skills that support their success, all the while making our communities safer, healthier and more nurturing for all of us.
- Every year, nearly 800 participants benefit from our support, not only enriching their lives but saving hundreds of thousands of dollars for our State taxpayers.
Mission of Street Soccer Portland
To fight poverty and empower underserved communities through soccer. To provide an alternative to the pay-to-play model of youth sports with a focus on social impact across the United States and beyond.
- Street Soccer Portland’s programs as a whole are focused on (1) building our participants’ capacity to succeed on and off the field and (2) connecting our participants with life-changing social service and community based referrals.
- In 2018, they served 331 people of all ages and backgrounds and improved the confidence, self-esteem and resiliency of 92% of participants. Providing 173 individual social service referrals to help our players achieve their goals.
