If this sounds like you or someone you know, we want to hear from you! We are looking for individuals to serve as board members, committee volunteers, to help with special events and to review scholarship applications. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with limited staff. We need you to help us enable and inspire youth through athletics.

The Multnomah Athletic Foundation believes all kids should have the opportunity to play, compete and participate in sports. We are committed to providing character and confidence building opportunities through athletics in underserved communities. The Foundation provides community grants and scholarships so that youth can reach their full potential by learning and working together through athletics.

The Multnomah Athletic Foundation is seeking seven (7) new board members to serve a three (3) year term beginning in June 2019. Membership on the Board of Directors is open to anyone with a demonstrated commitment to increasing access for youth and to be a catalyst for making new community connections. You do not need to be a MAC member.

We strive to be inclusive and reflect the communities we serve in Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas County.

This year, we have a specific need for individuals with communications, event management, scholarship experience in post-secondary education, legal and nonprofit management experience that target youth and project management experience.

Multnomah Athletic Foundation Board Members are expected to:
• Uphold the fiduciary responsibilities of a nonprofit board of directors
• Be an ambassador for community engagement through athletics
• Seek to increase access for partnerships, community grants and scholarship opportunities
• Attend at least 75% of the board and committees meetings in person or by phone
• Serve on at least one board committee
• Make a personal financial contribution at a level that is meaningful to you

We have a new format for our scholarship program and need 30 volunteers to assist with selecting award finalists. If that is not enough, we have new opportunities on committees and with our special events. Most committees meet once a month, and volunteer opportunities happen all through the year.

The nomination process for board members will close January 15th at 5 PM PDT for board consideration.
Nominees will hear from us in the weeks following as the Governance Committee seeks to narrow the field to the top candidates for interviews.
