2015 Joe Loprinzi Scholarship Program Recipients

Each year the Multnomah Athletic Foundation has the privilege of awarding the Joe Loprinzi scholarships. These individuals exemplify dedication to academics, athletics and being an active part of their communities.


Larry Brister
Jefferson High School
$10,000 scholarship

Larry Brister is a senior at Jefferson High School where he has maintained a 3.6 GPA. He is an honor roll student in the classroom, 5th place state wrestling finisher and two time 1st team in the PIL for Football. He is a youth wrestling coach and volunteer tutor with SEI.

Larry plans to attend Portland State to begin his goal in becoming a pharmacist. His dream includes playing football, wrestling or joining the track and field team with Portland State athletics.


Carla Canseco
Parkrose High School
$7,000 scholarship

Carla Canseco is a senior at Parkrose High School with a GPA of 3.5. Carla was the captain on the Varsity soccer and a four year member of the 2014 state championship Parkrose Elite Dance team. She is involved in AVID, the marching, pep, and symphonic band for three years and student government.

Carla will be attending Linfield College to pursue a degree in Psychology followed with a Master’s degree in Social Work to help and support kids who are alone in this country due to their parents being deported.


McKenzie Hopfer
Wilson High School
$7,000 scholarship

McKenzie Hopfer is a senior at Wilson High School with a GPA of 3.97. She has seven Varsity letters in soccer and basketball while recovering from 3 ACL injuries. She is the editor in chief of the yearbook and volunteers as a student leader with the ACL Prevention Enhancement Program in Portland.

McKenzie will attend University of Portland to major in Biology with a dream to attend medical school. Her goal is to specialize in Sports Medicine and also become involved with Doctors Without Borders.


Additional past Loprinzi recipients were awarded $2,000 scholarships:

  • Allison Martinez attending Santa Clara University and a graduate of Aloha High School
  • Greg Marshall attending University of Chicago and a graduate of Beaverton High School
